NYSC: Corp Members To Get Automatic Employment With These Agencies.
Rt. Hon. Eta Mboro, a member House of Representatives representing Calarbar Municipal/Odukpani Federal Constituency of Cross rivers state, has moved a motion for the amendment of the NYSC act to enable the military, paramilitary agencies and other special services to recruit graduates who are willing to join their service immediately after the service year.
The amendment bill has so far scaled first reading at the green chamber yesterday, Thursday.
This however is important because the current act of the NYSC scheme has not given a chance for automatic employment of the youth corpers immediately.
The member said if the bill is passed into law, it would help graduates who are desirous to join the military and paramilitary agencies and other special services to be employed provided they meet the requirements for the jobs.
"At the end of their service year, they should be able to get enrolled into the military, paramilitary and other special services if they are qualified", He said.
The honorable member, Eta Mbora furthered that the bill seeks to officially increase the allowance of corps members to cater their needs.
He also noted that despite Nigeria being the Africa's biggest economy, Nigeria's unemployment rate is very high. It rose to 23.1 percent at the third quarter of 2018. He also pointed that despite the various remedies to check the unemployment rate with program such as N-Power, there still is a wide gap of unemployment.
